                                                         Sand Hill Dune

My goodness July 15th already, where does the time go… summer always seems to zoom by, and yet the winters drag… should be the opposite as far as I am concerned. In the winter of my life, I need the time to slow down and I need summers that last and last. I love being outside everyday watering, weeding, and tending my flowers and plants… I see them as children to be cared for, fed, tended and loved… I know, I am silly but that is how I feel… flowers like children are gifts from God they can bring such joy…

Today ever since I returned in-doors, I have been on the P.C. I do volunteer work for CoastWatch a wonderful origination where people can adopt a mile of beach anywhere along the entire Oregon Coast, visit it as often as they like and submit a quarterly report on the changes observed, the wild life, people, birds, mammals etc. In my position, I check over all of the Lane County area reports, then posting them to the CoastWatch web page. http://oregonshores.org/coastwatch.php5?cwnn=missingnn&cwpw=missingpw?PHPSESSID=f5akoeklesrjgmai7nob8v8ek3

If you visit the site go to ‘Mile Report Browser’ on the left side of the page and check out the reports, in fact check out the whole site its is very informative and if you live on the Oregon Coast you may want to become a “Coast Watcher.” It is surprising how much you can learn and see on the beaches… a real delightful way to spend an afternoon.

Here in the Florence area and down almost to North Bend the beaches and the Oregon Dunes, which stretch to the beach in many, many places, is a real treat. I have seen many wonders on the Dunes, bears, fox, deer not to mention dunes so high that when standing next to a tree, you are actually standing next to the top 20 feet of maybe a 100 or more foot tree, and as you look around you will see no evidence of people or man made objects. It is a wonderful closeness with nature, the quiet and the beauty is almost overwhelming… Come to the Dunes and experience for yourself being at one with nature for a bit.
