A Winter Rose (Gift of Life)

So far we are having a rather nice February, lots of sunny days and today I hear a lawn mower going, always a good sound of coming spring… in fact I should get the ole lawnmower out and get it running maybe even give my lawn a trimming; but not today perhaps tomorrow. Today I am doing a bit of work in my flowerbeds and when finished there I will maybe wash my car and go for a much, needed walk, hopefully walk off the cookies and other goodies I have been eating too much of. Winter for me always leads to baking, nibbling, and over doing the goodies. Anyone else have that problem?

Come February to April I find myself feeling like a ship without a rudder, going from reading to watching movies, to water color painting, which I am not talented at and too lazy to apply myself seriously, then there is sewing or knitting which leave me unenthusiastic these days because there isn't any family members who want or need such things. Of course, there are plenty of places to donate such thing to and I do. This winter I have made little dresses for Africa, knitted helmet liners for our service men and women, knitted baby caps for a local shop but after twenty or thirty of those sorts of things one tends to get burned out… so I am taking a break and working on my father’s memoir, or just curl up with a good book from the library… By May I will be antsy to get my hands into the soil and PLANT! Who knows how much longer I can work in the yards, I’m getting up there, but so far so good! To silly me flowers and plants are like caring for children I think that is what draws me to the soil and of course the beautiful reward they give back is so worth all the labor.

Well I have rattled on long enough and said really nothing of great interest but this is sort of my journal and one really should write often if they have a blog… Thanks for stopping by; have a wonderful day.

I am not a baker, but I would be happy to eat everything you made!

I wish we lived closer together because I would definitely stop by for some chit chat.

I too don't do very much most of the time., but I do not think your blog is uninteresting. Actually I find great delight in reading your blog!
